SFC: Week 3 – Honey Glazed Chicken

First time making chicken in the oven. It was so strange prepping my chicken and throwing it in the oven. I just had to pray that it was fully cooked.  It’s a little brunt (because I wanted to make sure my chicken wasn’t rare!) but nonetheless very yummy. I made a slide of butter cream corn as well. That night, dinner was amazing.

I’m not a fan of anythign else besiding grilling chicken but I ought to give this one a try because I saw my roommate making this once and it looked so good. I had to find out where it was from! Turns out, the recipe is from Martha Stewart. It’s quick, easy and very yummy. Why not?

I have a couple more weeks of photos I have yet to upload. Are you all hungry yet?

A New Hobby: Greeting Cards

This is silly but I always had this dream of working in a Hallmark. I love greeting cards and I believe that there should be a greeting card for everything. Well, now there can be. I recently looked into making cards as a hobby. My beading hobby came to a halt when I decided that I don’t want to buy so many beads to make bracelets that no one ever wants… I’m sad, but I’ll move on… to something else – like greeting cards! I’ve always been a fan of arts and crafts.

Wouldn’t it be super cute to have greeting cards stamped with “Made with Love – Dawn Designs”? I think so. Even though Dawn is not my real name, I think it’s a great alliteration with the word “Designs.” I swear the name Dawn has some identity to me but I think I’ll save that story for another time. I guess I’ll spend the next two weeks making greeting cards. I love hands on projects. Expect photos for those too.

And yes, I am still doing my summer food challenge. I have been taking photos, just not updating yet. But let’s just say, I’m so glad I took this challenge on because I have come to learn so many new menu items and it’s so satisfying.

SFC: Week 2 – Portobello & Avocado burger

For the 2nd week of my Summer Food Challenge I made Portobello & Avocado burgers!! They took quite awhile to make since I usually never cooked portobello mushrooms before. I also didn’t make it according to the recipe I found online but now that I do have pesto sauce…I really should. Next time I want to use a whole mushroom instead of slicing them up and all. I think it would cut the cook time in half as well as hassle of prepping. If anyone wants the recipe or instructs let me know I’ll email you it! Anyways, onto photos and yummyness. (:

All my goodies ready for action!

Two small burgers with portobello, avocado and lettuce. Yummy!

They don’t look meaty but they are filling because of the avocado.

I used all the left overs and made guacamole. It’s a nice side dish to the burgers itself!

Summer To-Do Update!

Summer school had just ended. I have one week of final exam testing and then I will be done, done, done. Remember that old Summer 2010 To-Do list I made in the beginning of summer? Well, I took a look at it today and … It’s not nearly as done as I wanted it to be. There’s more to the list but I’ll just comment on some.

1. Take a group exercising class at the school’s recreation center. This goal failed completely. I decided to skip one week and then it became a habit. I went to two yoga classes and that was it. It was a good class but it was so late in the evening that I really didn’t feel like moving after a full day of classes. And I’ve been slacking on the 4+ days of working out a week. I got to fit 3 days in max and then I get way too tired to do anything else. I really need to buckle down!

2. Read, read, read. (Again & always!) I’m taking a writing fiction class and have read a lot of short stories lately. I think it is suffice but since summer school is over I really plan on lounging by the pool / beach and reading. Cannot wait!

3. Learn some new recipe. I am actually doing pretty well on this goal! I cook almost every night and am learning something new every week. I have yet to post all the photos but I am so proud of myself! Keep a look out for yummy photos soon!

Okay on to the new items to add to the list…

4. Make a Nail Polish Color Book

Of course the colors wouldn’t be the same on finger nails as to paper but I think this would be a really neat and cool idea. I might sort it by colors but what if I run out of pages for a color?! …Well that’s just maybe a hint that I have too much of the same color.

Rompers are a no-no for me ):

It’s offical, my dreams of wearing cute rompers all of summer just died. My romper I ordered on HauteLook arrived two days ago. The material and shipping was great but the look of it on me – not so much. I did take a photo of me wearing the romper but I looked so stumpy that I never want to see it in my life again! But I will include a photo of the body where I don’t look too bad. Yes, I can work my angles – kind of.

I also can’t wear it like the photo shown in my blog entry before. I put a belt with it and it was super cute but nonetheless I was still stumpy. I wish I had super long legs. Being 5’6″ does not mean you’re invincible! You have to wear a tank inside it and if you don’t – you’ll be flashing everyone. It’s comfy but I didn’t pay $20 for a comfy outfit I can’t wear anywhere.

Boo! I guess I just don’t have the body type. It’s a cute romper, but just not for me! Maybe I’ll return it or sell it online. We’ll see.
