It’s so wierd to come out of a college general education class and learn something from it. We all know these classes are just taken to make us look like well rounded kids but in reality its nothing more but a class to pass time in. It’s funny but I think of all my GE classes, I thought that my Anthro class was going to be the best joke ever. I took it because word of mouth, I heard it was easy. I learned more than I can ever imagine. I think about it from time to time about taking more Anthro classes.

I watched The Ugly Truth today and for some reason, I kept thinking about my anthro class. Maybe because there was a commercial before the movie started on Levi’s jeans. I thought of Levi Strauss, you know – the anthropologist. I’m quite impress that I can even remember a name from that class. Who was the man who did the dog salivating experiment in psychology?! (I’m a psychology major btw!)

Other than that commercial there were parts of the movie that sparked some anthro in me. Why is it that we perceive some of the remarks in the movie to be funny? or true? Is it because we are so familiar with such remarks in that context that we just learn to accept it? Will other cultures find it funny? Hmm, as much as I was trying to analyze some crazy anthro spark in me, I was also enjoying the movie. I really like it. Males will laugh at this movie too. I’m not really good with movies but hey, I like it and I think that it’s worth the money. Plus Gerard Butler is hot stuff (I didn’t get enough of him in PS. I Love You because he dies in the first 10 minutes in the movie and he was damn charming). Go watch it and spark some anthropology in you!
