I'd keep a laptop at my parents just so when I go back to visit, I don't need to bring one :P I have my old Macbook just for that reason I am not a total Macbook convert because I do a lot more on a PC than on a Mac (programs, software, MS Office works without a hitch, but hiccups on a Mac, Photoshopping and client-related stuff) I’d keep it and use it as a spare laptop.
