It’s summer again and I was thinking how I did the Summer Food Challenge last year and really enjoyed it. Soon after, it launched my passion for cooking. Not only has it made me want and like to cook it also made me want to eat and like to eat, sometimes too much for my own good like a food enthusiast almost! This summer around I want to try something new or even more complex since after a full year of cooking almost every day I think my cooking skills have improved. So here’s the planned list of the time being. I did 5 last time because I had 5 weeks of summer but this time I want to do more so 10 new items to add to my recipes inventory in 5 weeks.

Baked Assorted Seafood Casserole

Cone Cupcake

Mushroom Risotto

Pan Ang Curry with Beef

CPK’s Baby Clam Linguini with Lemon Cream Sauce

Lemon Meringue Cupcakes/Cake

Cheesecake

Pesto Stuffed Mushrooms

??

A yummy secret.

I’m all out of ideas! What do you think I should make as the 9th item?! Comment and let me know what I should make or what is your favorite thing to cook! I have the 10th item already but I’m going to keep it a secret because I’m scared I will fail and to keep things kind of suspenseful.

Great, now I’m super hungry!

For those you don’t know, I am addicted to hair dye. I remember ever since I was young I wanted to dye my hair but my mother would never let me. A summer two years ago, my best friend and I convinced my mother to finally let us dye each other’s hair. …From then on, it’s been a full blown addiction. While my dreams of being blonde is not far off, I actually don’t think I’ll ever get there. -sad face-

If I had to count I might have dyed my hair around 11-13 times in the past two years…and this is as much as I remember. I might have done more. But if I show you my whole transformation we might be here for awhile. So let’s just start with the most 3, er 4 recent dyes. I think this is important because I’ve used different brands and so we can compare and contrast here.

First off, I had some really badly faded mocha orange hair. I don’t know why I picked up this color, I just know that I did and it was one of the worst investment ever. Prettia’s Mocha Orange is the most awkward color. I wanted to try a foam dye because my hair is so long that if I buy the regular ones I needed two bottles. I figured with foam I can just spread it around. This was the only color the store had so I just went with it. It’s pretty easy to use Prettia since it’s foam but please read the instructions before you start or else you’ll end up with a mess like I did. Do not shake the bottle. I repeat, do not shake the bottle!

It doesn’t look too bad there but in person it was so brassy and was just a mess. The bottom was way darker because I have a black dye from before. It was like some inverted ombre hair I had going on. I had this for awhile but then I couldn’t stand it any more so I decided to redye it. I thought since it was already so light, why not go lighter …like blonde. It was Spring and heck there’s no better time to be blonde than college and in spring/summer. So I did it and used Clairol’s Perfect 10 Dark Blonde Butterscotch Boom. I didn’t bleach it because I was too scared for the extreme change so just dyed it blonde. The results came out as if I just evened out the brassiness.

You can tell again that my bottom is still a lot darker. Overall, I didn’t mind as much because in a couple of days the dye sunk in and my hair or at least my bangs turned full out blonde. However, the smell of this dye was so strong it made my eyes water the whole time through. This dye was kind of nice because it had a brush attachment unlike most American dyes. To me, I pick hair dye based on color and then the easiness to use it. Like I said, I wanted to try foam because it just looked so easy. Little did I know, I hated the color. The days went on and my hair just got lighter and lighter. I think it has to do with the fact that I blow dry my hair every night. Heat changes the color.

I had so much fun being a blonde, inside and out. But then I had composite photos (think yearbook photo) for my sorority and I knew that if I stayed blonde, that photo will be hung in the house for the rest of forever and I don’t want to look back and regret it. So, I sad goodbye to my favorite blonde hair and went darker with Palty’s Ganache Tart.

I usually don’t have a problem with Palty but this is by far my worst experience. It faded super quick and it didn’t even dye to the color to the box. Oh and it made my hair feel super dried and fried! And you know what? It’s true, blondes do have more fun. After this hair dye, all I did was sit around the house and studied and never went out to play. …It was horrible. And the worst part is like I said before it faded back and my blondness was showing through.

The composite photo date, formal date and my birthday was all closing in and I basically gave in if I was going to go darker, I had to go way darker. This blondness of me just wouldn’t go away. (Not really complaining.) I had enough of this fading hair color and decided its time to switch brands again. I was walking around in Target and came across this dye, L’Oreal Sublime Mousse in Spicy Auburn Brown. At first I was like, hmmm, I don’t know if I can be spicy like this. And after the dye my hair was so red I was taken by surprise. It toned down after awhile which I kind of liked. And this was also a foam/mousse dye and I completely loved it because I only needed one bottle and I had so much left over even with such long hair. It didn’t drip and it made application such an ease.

It’s been over a month and even tho the spiciness of the red kind of faded, I am actually happy with my hair color again. Blondes do have more fun and I do miss that hair color but I know that deep down, I have a layer of blonde somewhere in this mess. So go ahead, go buy some hair dye and go crazy with it. If you mess up, just know you can always redye it…unless it’s jet black. Learn from my mistakes! So all in all, go with the foam/mousse from L’Oreal. They have tons of color and it even comes with a really good smelling condition. And if any of you are wondering, my hair does not feel fried/dried at all. People touch it all the time and cannot believe that I dye it so much and yet it is so soft and smooth!

Happy Hair Dying! (:

I’ve been looking forward to Spring Break since, well, Winter Break. But now that it is finally here I am kind of sad that the gloomy, raining weather is totally ruining my plans of going to the beach, shopping at outdoor malls and just relaxing in general. I fear not though because there will also be online shopping. I’ve been looking here and there for a couple of items I’ve been dying to get my hands on. I’m super picky when it comes to buying things. Unless I am 100% in love with it I will not purchase it. And always, always, always remember – quality over quantity.

Even though it’s spring, it’s still chilly at night. I’ve been looking for the prefect floral bodycon dress. I am obsessed with floral lately and spring is just the right time! I feel like the dress has to have sleeves and a pretty back. I am addicted to pretty back detail clothing. It’s so easy to make it causal and at the same time if I wanted to dress it up I can throw over a leather jacket and tights with heels. I have just yet to find the perfect print.

I’ve been looking all over the web for a prefect pair of denim cutoffs with pockets! No, it does not mean my shorts are too short. I don’t know how I feel about all that distressing detail on that image though. I have a pair of shorts that are so worn in that the pockets are showing. I really like them but the color has faded and am looking for another pair. Want, want, want!

Sunnies. So addicted to sunnies. I got my hands on a pair of Tom Ford’s Alexandra TF 0118 a couple months ago and fell madly in love with them. Oh, but the price tag made me put them down. Later on I found out that Lady Gaga, Jessica Biel, Mena Suvari, Tori Spelling and many other celebrities adore these. Now I want them even more. Sighhh. They are on sale at an outlet though… I do plan on going back when the weather is better this week!

Last but not least, a cute, fun bikini. I’ve been eating right and working hard lately so by this time of the year and summer, I can feel confident in a new, cute, fun bikini. Ditch the boring black girls, let’s go for some prints and color. I also want a floral one. Yes, I am quite addicted to this floral trend this season.

That’s pretty much it. I wanted to come up with 5 items but really I’m just lusting over 4. What are some things you’ve been lusting over for this coming spring season?

I been using the following items in my December favorites all month long, well for the last 22 days, and decided that I am truly, truly, in love with these items! I just had to be sure before I made a post about them. It’s only fair to make a post dedicated to them because I did it for the month of November as well. I know that it’s the holidays and we are all going broke left and right with Christmas shopping but I couldn’t help to snag up a couple of good deals here and there to add to my collection.

First off, I am super sketchy about Forever 21 products. I know make up and nail polish is nothing but chemicals and anything at such an affordable price makes me question how harmful they can be for my skin, body, and health. But you know, I’m old enough to know better but too young to care so I took the plunge anyways. To my surprise most of my items from Forever 21 cosmetic line, Love & Beauty, surpassed my expectations and has now become one of my favorites. I guess I really shouldn’t doubt something before I tried it out. Without further adieu, to my December Favorites!

Forever 21 Love & Beauty Blush in Pink

I love, love, love this blush. This has become my go-to blush for the last couple of weeks. I love my NARS Orgasm dearly but this is a much more affordable blush to be using for a daily basis. For only $3.80, it’s like I could use almost 7 of these blushes for one NARS blush. I save that for special occasions now. The color of this blush is a lot more pigmented than I thought it would be and also comes in two colors. Sometimes I brush it all around for a nice pink glow and sometimes I just use a square. And the best thing about this blush that surprised me is the sweet fragrance. It’s just a nice touch to blush over all. Love it, and will buy it again but it’s not showing up on their website right now and that irks me a little. I might do a giveaway with this blush included, details on that later.

Forever 21 Love & Beauty Nail Polish in Lavender

Excuse how I painted them all over my fingers but I was getting super irritated since it was my 4th try to do this nail design! But let’s focus on the base color. Isn’t that just gorgeous?! My friend Jennifer and I were taking about how this color is really mauve but the bottle itself said lavender so we both just gave up arguing and decided it’s just a nice color. I am super surprised that it turned opaque and very evenly just after two coats. The color was the same as the bottle and it lived up to every single expectation I had for nail polish.

If you like the silver print, I used Konad plate 57. This is my actual first success with Konad. Side note, Konad special nail polish sucks. I went to a local Japanese store for tiny tubes of nail art polish instead and it worked wonders. Anyways, this color was only $2.80 and I am so going back for more colors. Their nail polish line is to die for.

Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer SPF 15

I swear my life on all Aveeno products. I have tried all kinds of different skincare on my face before and nothing has worked better than Aveeno. I cannot stress this enough, moisturize your face, especially in this winter season where skin becomes dry and flaky and the heater indoors only makes it worse! I hate how my face feels after I wash it and when I wake up because it feels all dry. I feel like I’m just asking for wrinkles to breed on my face. And no, this does not make you break out. I have somewhat combination skin and it’s hard to find a moisturizer that doesn’t break me out (like Neutrogena or Clean & Clear). The only downside to this moisturizer is that it is quite expensive for a drugstore brand but it’s so worth it.

Just three products again, I feel like I always write too much! Maybe January I’ll have more items and less things to babble about. Cheers and get excited because Christmas is just around the corner. Stay warm and moisturize this holiday!!
